Education about paper airplanes

This semester, I was asked to teach science for the first year. Although I have never taught science, I don't feel incompetent for physics graduates. However, due to the recycling of teaching materials, there are not enough experimental materials for students, which has caused me great trouble. At the beginning, I will cut the covers of only a few sets of teacher's demonstration materials into small pieces of paper, and add a rubber band that I spent 5 yuan to teach my children to "fly around". This activity would also like to thank Professor Janchai from Thailand for his lecture on "Hands-on Brain Education in the High-tech Era" at the Xinjiang Innovation Competition. Children's imagination of "flying" exceeded my expectation, and the display of children's creativity also gave me greater encouragement, so I thought of the next "paper plane".

The teaching design of "paper plane" is the same as that of "flying around", which is gradually complete in teaching. In the teaching process, it is found that the education of "paper plane" is far from being as simple as that of "science education". When preparing lessons, I easily found 12 kinds of origami plans, but I didn't let the children fold them in the first class. Instead, I asked a question first, "What factors affect the flight of paper planes?" Children in several classes can easily tell the material (paper), folding method, characters (movements) and environment, which shows that "flying around" has left a deep impression on children. The next second question is the focus of this lesson. "If you had to choose a piece of paper to make an origami plane, what kind of paper would you choose?" The children began to talk to each other, some said it was light, some said it was difficult; Some people say use a calendar, others say use a book cover. In my opinion, for the first-grade children, simply telling them what is "light and heavy" has no greater significance, but only in this unanswered discussion can they really exercise their thinking, and I finally lead the topic to environmental protection to remind children to save paper. In fact, the simplest purpose is to tell children not to tear up their exercise books.

In fact, I was hesitant to choose the content of Paper Plane at first. I am mainly worried that the children will disturb the school discipline because of the "paper plane", which will obviously bring trouble to the class teacher. Therefore, it is also necessary to educate children in the classroom. When asked, "When and where can we fly?" Sometimes I feel helpless. Obviously not in the classroom, not in the corridor, in the playground? I'm not allowed to go during recess, and I don't have time to exercise during recess. A child creatively said that it was no problem for me to go to physical education class, but I wonder if the PE teacher will forgive him. Making in science class, decorating in art class, flying in physical education class class and imagining in mental health class are really beautiful blueprints. But now I can only encourage the children to fly home and take them back to science class next week, and I emphasize that I can only take them out during science class. Moreover, I solemnly say that you are all young scientists now, and the plane in your hand is not a toy, but your scientific research achievement, so you can't fly around casually. In fact, I don't know how much this kind of education can play, because during the discussion, some children have turned out the paper plane and are eager to try. As soon as the bell rang, I thought, "Good luck to the head teacher ~" and walked out of the classroom.

In a blink of an eye, a week passed, and the first sentence that the class teacher saw me again was, "Your paper plane is ready." I really don't have the heart to tell her that this is just the beginning. Seeing that all kinds of paper planes on the children's desks are really decent, I casually asked a child in front of me, "Did you fold this yourself?" The child hesitated and said, "My mother had a fight with my father. My mother won the game, so I brought her one." At this moment, a picture of a happy family portrait appears in front of my eyes. I am happy because of the happiness conveyed by this paper plane flying from school to home.

I accidentally saw the "Paper Plane Competition" on TV at the weekend, which made me really realize that I actually underestimated the paper plane I had always admired. It has standardized competition rules, flight distance, flight time, appearance creativity and even world records. Maybe when my classmates saw me demonstrate how to adjust the flight path of the plane by changing the direction of the tail, they really believed that they were no longer holding toys.

I mentioned that I want to "discuss" the education of paper airplanes because I really feel that it has educated children in many ways. From the level of knowledge and skills, there are the understanding of geometric figures, the measurement of length, the use of drawings and auxiliary lines, the knowledge of aerodynamics and so on; From the process method, we can cultivate children's independent inquiry consciousness, critical thinking ability and innovation ability; It is more meaningful to discuss the relationship between man and nature and the freedom of mind from the perspective of emotional attitude and values. Another reason why "the education of paper airplanes" is highly praised is its widespread use. Regardless of age, regardless of urban and rural areas, it is easy to find a point of convergence in education. Even if there is no so-called education, it is just simple happiness. Isn't it because many adults still miss the paper plane of their childhood, so their hearts used to fly freely with the paper plane?
