Charles Dickens is the greatest representative of critical realism in Britain in the 19th century. Oliver Twist, one of Dickens' favorite novels, is famous for its characters. In Oliver Twist, dozens of characters are well portrayed, including good and evil. This paper analyzes some typical characters in the novel. First of all, Oliver Twist, a child hero in the novel, is a good embodiment of Dickens' works. Oliver has many valuable qualities. Secondly, the evils of Fagin and Sikes were exposed completely, which aroused readers' disgust and anger. Finally, the complicated character of the poor, Nancy, the conflict between her inner conscience and her loyalty to Sikes. In the end, she risked her life to help Oliver, which is one of the noblest acts of kindness in the story. So the conclusion is that Dickens thinks that most people are kind at heart, but sometimes their good impulses are distorted by terrible environment.

In Oliver Twist, many characters are successfully portrayed, both good and evil. This paper analyzes some typical characters in the novel. First of all, is Oliver the protagonist of the children? 6? 1 Twist is the embodiment of kindness in Dickens' works, and he has many valuable personality traits. Secondly, the full exposure of the evil images of Fagin and Essex aroused readers' disgust and disgust. Finally, poor and complicated Nancy is caught in a dilemma between finding kindness and being loyal to her lover. Finally, risking your life to help Oliver is one of the noblest acts of kindness in the novel. Through the analysis of the typical characters in Oliver Twist, we can draw the conclusion that Dickens believes that most people are kind at heart, but sometimes some people's good thoughts may be distorted by the bad external environment.
