English translation of abstracts of papers involves food culture and is not directly translated online.
China people have always been "food is the most important thing". Whether it is the basic survival needs, such as food, clothing, housing and transportation, or the further life needs, such as having fun, it is inseparable from "food" and "eating". China's food culture has a long history and is profound, which is an important part of cross-cultural communication. Therefore, in cross-cultural translation, food culture translation is an important part of translation, which has cross-cultural nature and historical significance of spreading culture. Based on the essence of food culture translation, this paper summarizes the common problems in food culture translation, discusses the optimization strategies of translation, and finally summarizes the effective methods in this regard. In the article, the author analyzes the characteristics of cooking English and the characteristics of China's food culture. In the process of cross-language and cultural communication, different cultural concepts will inevitably produce local overlap, collision and conflict, which will bring various obstacles and difficulties to language translation. Only when the translator is clearly aware of these differences can he translate his works and spread the excellent culture of his own nation. Then the author puts forward effective strategies for successfully translating China's food culture: literal translation, transliteration and the combination of sound and meaning. Literal translation means word-by-word translation, which is the most commonly used translation of China's food culture in Britain. Transliteration means translating the original meaning. Sometimes, in order to highlight the local characteristics of dishes and their relationship with someone, the method of combining sound and meaning can be adopted. Addition is to improve the acceptability of translation, adopt the method of explanation or add information in translation. In short, the translator must correctly evaluate the horizon of expectations of the target language readers in translation, so that the translation can be more easily accepted by the target language readers, and the food culture in China can be more widely spread.
