20? Zhou Zhihong, New Technology of Pure Oxygen Bottom Blowing, Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of China Metal Society, 1979. Zhou Zhihong attaches great importance to the training of scientific and technological personnel. As early as War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's time, when he was the technical director, factory director and factory director of No.28 Factory of Materials Research Institute, although he was very busy, in order to improve the level of scientific and technological personnel in his unit, he proposed to hold a reading report meeting in his unit and attend it in person. He also actively participated in the activities of China Institution of Engineers and Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Engineers, and read out his papers such as Alloy Steel and Crucible Steelmaking at the annual meeting, which enlivened the atmosphere of academic discussion. He pays attention to assessing the performance of technicians at work, and invites awards for outstanding workers, or sends them abroad for training, or recommends them to superiors. The trained scientific and technical personnel who have worked in the Institute of Materials and the 28th Factory, such as Xiao Jimei, Xu Zuyao, Fangzheng Zhi, Zheng Zhixin, Zhang Lingnan, Guo Shunan and Xie, have all grown into famous scholars and experts.

Zhou Zhihong has taught in Chongqing University, Nanjing University and Datong University for nearly 50 years, especially in Jiaotong University for 39 years. In addition to being a professor, he also served as the leader of teaching and research section, department and school, and undertook heavy scientific research and teaching tasks. 195 1 Entrusted by the Ministry of Heavy Industry, a short training course on physical and chemical inspection was held in Shanghai, which trained the first batch of inspection technical backbones for China. Now, his students are all over China, and he has trained a large number of scientific and technological talents in gold and machinery for China.

Zhou Zhihong is knowledgeable and approachable, and advocates teaching democracy. He is good at inspiring and encouraging young and middle-aged teachers and students to express their opinions bravely. In the 1960s, he insisted on holding a symposium once a week for academic discussion with graduate students. He encourages students to be far-sighted and innovative, and often says to them, "People without rich imagination and creativity have no future ... choose a far-sighted research direction."

He pays attention to the integration of theory with practice in teaching and the cultivation of practical teaching links; Adhere to lead by example, lead by example. He is busy with administrative work and teaches in person. Over 60 years old, he also led students to the factory for production practice. In order to take students to practice, he ran around for more than half a year, and even went to the laboratory to guide students' experiments, ask graduate students about their research progress, and personally help solve problems. He often warns students not to live up to the expectations of the country and the people. In order to encourage students who study hard and achieve excellent results, he donated his salary savings for many years-20,000 yuan as the "Zhou Zhihong Scholarship" from 65438 to 0987, which was awarded once a year.

Professor Xu Zuyao, who has worked with Zhou Zhihong for more than 40 years, said with nostalgia: "In the department led by Zhou Lao, he tried his best to encourage and support others and never suppressed anyone ... For more than half a century, he has trained a group of research backbones. They are good at business and love the motherland, which should be attributed to Zhou Lao's words and deeds. " His students are raising money for a bronze bust of Zhou Zhihong in memory of the teacher. He struggled for the development of China iron and steel industry for nearly 70 years, leaving his hard footprints in the history of metallurgical science and technology development in China.
