Both China and the West have created splendid sculpture art, but they belong to two independent art systems. Due to the historical and cultural differences, Chinese and western sculptures are quite different in aesthetic concepts, modeling methods and artistic effects. The media between Chinese and western sculpture and space concept are painting and sculpture respectively. This paper will try to explore their respective characteristics and values.

The ancient sculpture art in China originated from the production of stone tools and pottery in primitive society. From the Warring States period to the Thai-Han period, a large number of pottery, wooden figures and animal figurines were used for burial. It shows the strong characteristics of national sculpture art. Western sculpture originated in ancient Greece. The ancient Greeks attached importance to the human body and shaped God into a perfect human being. They worship God and heroes who are as perfect as God.
