Used as plasticizer for cellulose nitrate and cellulose acetate. Because of its high volatility, it is often used with low volatility plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate and dibutyl sebacate. It can also be used as a solvent. It is also used as a curing accelerator for casting phenolic resin adhesive with ester as curing agent. Increasing the concentration of glyceryl triacetate and increasing the reaction temperature will accelerate the crosslinking reaction.
