Yunnan Vocational College of Culture and Art is located at the foot of the scenic Xishan Mountain and beside Dianchi Lake. Its predecessor was Yunnan Opera School, which was founded in 1956. In May 2004, with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, it merged with the former Yunnan Film Academy and the former Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture Staff University.
