The opening report of the master's thesis is completed and approved, and it is generally not allowed to change the topic. If it fails, it can be modified. However, if the master's thesis fails, it cannot be rewritten by topic, and generally it can only be rewritten according to the original topic. Only when the research topic has been proved to be meaningless recently can the research topic be changed under special circumstances such as being repeated.

Provisions on changing the topic after opening the master's degree thesis:

1. After the thesis is started, if the original research cannot be carried out due to research work or other reasons, with the consent of the tutor and the training unit (tutor group), the topic can be re-selected, and the new topic must be re-opened for defense, and it will be reported to the Graduate Office for the record after passing.

2 papers that have passed the mid-term evaluation shall not be changed.

3. Whether the actual progress of the dissertation is consistent with the opening of the topic should be regarded as an important content of the mid-term evaluation of the dissertation.

4. The research stage of the thesis is from topic opening to thesis defense. If the research stage of the dissertation is not less than 1 year, and the dissertation is less than 1 year, the Graduate Office will force the delivery of Shanghai graduate dissertations for double-blind sampling.
