Encouraged by the central government's policy of "letting a hundred schools of thought contend" and "letting a hundred flowers blossom" in science, culture and art circles, geotectonics in China has really developed by leaps and bounds, especially in academic journals of geological sciences. Before the birth of New China, papers on structural geology and geotectonics were published sporadically, but they increased sharply after liberation. Geological Review 1957 17 published 23 papers on structural geology and geotectonics. With the publication of the article "Geology of China, the turning point of science in China", there are obvious repercussions in this field, including:
Huang on several types of neotectonic movements in northwest China;
On the tectonic attributes of the southeast coastal areas of China;
Pu's Introduction to Tectonics in Xinjiang;
Wang Yuelun's The Significance of Yanshan Movement;
Structural Characteristics and Deep Rock History of Ma Xingyuan in Wutai Mountain Area;
Li Chunyu's query on Weihe graben:
Proterozoic fold belt in eastern China, Wang Hongzhen;
Feng Jinglan s Geomorphology and Related Evidence for Neotectonic Movement in China;
Jin, Characteristics and Significance of Neotectonic Movement in Gansu Corridor;
Wang on geomechanics of Hexi Corridor;
Wang Zhongtang on Strata and Structure of Shanxi Datong Coalfield;
Jie Yuan on the Geological Structure of the Northern Section of Helan Mountain;
The relationship between tectonics and mineral deposits in Xinjiang is old and so on.
These papers basically represented the different viewpoints of geotectonics and tectonic geology at that time, which played the role of mutual exchange and complement each other, effectively promoted the academic atmosphere of a hundred schools of thought contending, and laid the foundation for later schools.
During the period of 1949- 1959, more than 30 papers on geotectonics were published in Journal of Geological Society of China Society, which was later renamed Journal of Geology, excluding 8 papers by famous Soviet geotectonists such as Shadowski, Yang Shen and Homer Dovski, among which 5 papers were published in Belousov. The topics of China scholars' papers are as follows.
