The first stage: research a class.
Graduate students have three years, each year is a stage, and each stage has different emphasis. The focus of study one is to attend classes and lay the foundation. I still remember walking through the long school road with my schoolbag on my back to attend classes in the first teaching building, the School of Information, the School of Economic Management and the School of Public Administration. Because the campus is relatively large, you should go out a lot of time in advance every time to avoid being late. I remember that I took management research methodology of School of Economics and Management and public management theory and method of School of Public Administration, both of which belong to methodology courses. For me who was a science student before, taking these two courses gave me a better understanding of social research methods and broadened my thinking. In addition, attend a seminar once a week, attended by brothers and sisters. Everyone will discuss a topic and express their opinions. The courses and seminars of graduate students are more aimed at laying the foundation, and almost every course needs PPT and writing course papers. My PPT production ability improved a lot at that time, although the current PPT level is still relatively poor. Writing course papers can be said to be a kind of practice, which allows us to get in touch with the process of choosing a topic for detailed research and writing. At that time, I would take every course paper very seriously, even if it took a lot of brains. Some courses in senior one are quite difficult, such as advanced operational research. I remember that I used crawling posture to cope with the past, which is my usual way to cope with difficulties. I have no ambition, but I am in a state of weak flow, and I feel that I am crawling slowly with a faint breath. I don't like curriculum system theory either. I don't like learning those evaluation methods, building evaluation index system and calculating matrix values. But I can't. These two courses are compulsory and I have to learn them. People always have to face things they don't like.
The second stage: research 2-writing a thesis
After the summer vacation, it entered the second stage. I began to plan the direction and topic of the master's thesis, from the topic selection, the writing of literature review, research methods, research design, the design and distribution of questionnaires, the collation and analysis of survey data, the writing of small papers and the writing of large papers, and the guidance of the tutor. In the process of doing these things, I experienced the process of doing research. I am the kind of student who strictly follows the planned steps step by step, and I take the initiative to find a tutor at every step. At that time, I tried to get more attention from my tutor and let him spend more time and energy guiding me, because I wanted to make a greater breakthrough in academic research. These works run through the second and third years of my research, of which the second year is the most concentrated. At that time, the pressure was quite great, because the school required graduate students to publish papers in the core journals of Peking University, otherwise they could not graduate. My roommates and I are very worried that we will not graduate unless we publish our papers. As for the topic of my master's thesis, I chose the method of empirical research, which is a challenge for me. After all, I haven't done empirical research. At that time, I was worried that I would encounter difficulties in obtaining questionnaire data, because I was not an extrovert or a person who dealt with too many people, and I was worried that I could not get enough data because of my limited ability, or that the data I got could not be used because the reliability and validity could not meet the requirements. Then the questionnaire needs to be redesigned and reissued to collect data, which means that a lot of work needs to be redone, and it is very likely that time is too late. It is precisely because of this concern that we are careful at every step to avoid mistakes and rework. Later, I found that doing academic research requires such a rigorous attitude.
Regarding Yaner's study, it can be said that Yaner is the most devoted to doing research because there is no class. At that time, I also spent time helping my tutor with a final report of a project. Doing the final report of that project is also a toss-up process, sorting out materials, writing reports, printing, binding, submitting for review, reimbursement, running the school administration building, running the off-campus evaluation agency, and rework many times. I still attend seminars regularly. At the seminar, I discussed my thesis with my tutor, my sister and my sister, and studied the lifestyle and the principle of the Golden Pagoda. The tutor asked us to learn the golden pagoda principle in order to think and express more logically when writing a paper. Unfortunately, we haven't really understood and applied the essence of the Golden Pagoda principle yet.
There is another thing worth recording in the second year's research, that is, the experience of being rejected many times, the small paper written hard, the news of being rejected two months later, and the feeling of seeing that there is still a long way to go before the paper is sent. Looking back at my weight, I found that my weight was the heaviest in the second year of study. I probably spent all my thoughts on writing a paper at that time, and I didn't realize that I was going to exercise. Under the pressure of publishing a paper, I once gained weight. In fact, I have always felt that I am not the kind of smart student and lack innovation. I feel that I am not suitable for academic research. If you really need research results, you really need to spend a lot of time. But I want to do academic research in my heart
Although I don't have to attend classes after the first year of school, I have free time. However, from Monday to Friday, I still stay in school to write papers and study hard. On weekends, I will go out alone to visit scenic spots or go shopping in Guangzhou, and watch a movie in the dormitory. Looking back now, I think I could have worked harder at that time, but the next year passed like this.
The third stage: research 3-writing papers and practicing.
Before the end of the second year of graduate school, I submitted my resume online to find an internship. Fortunately, I passed the interview, so I spent my whole third year working and writing my master's thesis. Compared with the second year of graduate school, the third year of graduate school does not have so much free time, but it is more fulfilling. On the other hand, my job content brings me ideas for writing papers or gives me a deeper understanding of my research direction. In the third year of research, I will still take the initiative to find a tutor regularly, and ask the tutor to help me check the big thesis, give guidance on revision, and then make revisions according to the tutor's opinions. At that time, I attended classes for at least three days a week, sometimes four or five days, and spent the rest of my time writing papers at school.
The third year of the study is the graduation season, which can be said to be a turbulent period. As soon as I entered the third year of graduate school, the students around me began to go to job fairs or submit resumes for interviews online, or prepare for the civil service examination. I keep hearing that some students have been rejected in the interview or got an offer. Students exchange views with each other about the recruitment unit, where they plan to find it, and what kind of job they plan to find. Everyone is busy for their future. I was busy with my internship at that time. I don't have to work to write my thesis, I don't have much time to pay attention to it, and I didn't attend any job fairs. At that time, my goal was clear-what I wanted to do was to match my major with my favorite job, leaving the rest out for the time being.
Communication with tutors
Every stage has contact with the tutor in life, that is, after guiding the ideas of each paper, the tutor will really ask the students about their lives and feelings and make suggestions. He emphasized being a man before doing things, and remembered that his tutor gave us a lot of philosophical guidance in life. For example, what do people live for? People are social and integrated with others and the earth. When you desperately pursue your own success, it is very painful and there are many obstacles, and many people will become your stumbling block; With others in my heart, interpersonal relationships will be good and good luck will come; When you can do something for the world, the more you care about others, everything around you will be fine, and you will find the other half.
He is very concerned about the physical condition of each of his students, and that kind of concerned question makes me feel his sincerity. In addition to researching and guiding thesis writing, tutors have a wide range of interests. He studied Chinese medicine and took part in voluntary work, such as the origin.
? However, my feelings for my mentor are tangled and contradictory. During my whole postgraduate study, he and I both had problems. I feel that he didn't spend his energy on academic research, but spent so much time doing other things, and he was very rebellious and dissatisfied with him. Because one of my deep-seated thoughts as a graduate student is to follow a tutor who is keen on doing academic research to improve my ability to do academic research. In fact, from another angle, you have feelings for a person because you care about him, because he has contact with you and has complicated feelings for him. This feeling has become the feeling of a teacher today. Postgraduate career gradually grows in the collision with the tutor. Teachers will allow students to make mistakes and tolerate my emotions. His tolerance, forgiveness and other mentality have influenced me subtly. Sometimes I think he has a greater influence on me than my father. My father only gave birth to me, but he didn't teach me the direction, choice, meaning and values of life. My tutor is like my other "father". He gave me much more guidance on thinking and dealing with people than my father, and I could feel his concern and care for me. Maybe I am a person. If others show a little concern for me, I will be grateful. So far, I am still grateful to meet such a mentor in my life journey.
At a dinner party more than two years after graduation, the tutor told us: "Graduate students are difficult to take the exam." At that time, I knew that the tutor had spent a lot of effort to train us.
The purpose of postgraduate study
The tutor once mentioned the purpose of studying as a graduate student after guiding his student's thesis. I recorded it with a pen and paper while listening, and there may be some omissions in the record. Postgraduates have three purposes, shallow and high, and gradual and important.
? First, find and solve problems independently in the professional field. In the small field of research, you can talk about your graduation thesis for at least 30 minutes and become an expert. -Shallow layer
? Second, the ability to communicate with people has improved on the whole, and graduate students should dabble in a wider range. They should learn from the truth, classmates, experts and professors in the field, and learn their attitude towards scientific research and meticulous spirit. This is actually about humanistic quality. For example, Professor XXX is modest, earnest and flexible. With his personality and influence, he understands the teachers who are in conflict with him. You don't like others, others don't like you, 100% is your own problem. The source of all pain is to change others. You must be modest and patient enough. You are an adult, others are children. Everyone will have contradictions. If you put the contradictions on yourself, the problem will be solved easily. -Middle level
? Third, we should have correct values and world outlook, how to look at the world, integrate with the world, and handle the relationship between good people and the world, and the relationship between man and the universe. -High level
