However, the basic knowledge of language is not the only decisive basis for judging the quality of communicative competence, and the quality of communicative competence depends more on people's proficiency in using language skills. In other words, language knowledge is the foundation of linguistics, skills are the medium of linguistics, and the ultimate goal is to improve one's communicative competence. Therefore, while mastering certain language knowledge, students should also strengthen the training of language application ability, mainly emphasizing the skills training in listening, reading, writing and practice. Although English teaching has been widely promoted in China, from the current teaching situation, most students' English level is not high, which basically belongs to "dumb English". The first task of learning a language is to practice oral English, which is slowly developed on the premise of learning written language well. Judging from the current content of English teaching in China, it is mainly divided into two parts: the foundation refers to listening, speaking, reading and writing, and the reinforcement refers to English translation. Among them, listening, speaking, reading and writing are mutually coordinated and supportive, but at the same time they have their own characteristics and difficulties, which require different teaching methods and teaching means to implement teaching. When setting up English courses, we must make clear the ultimate goal and fundamental task of teaching, and then arrange the class hours according to a certain proportion. For example, the training objectives of real-time translation and literary translation are the same, so the requirements for class hours are different. For example, if students don't have a good grasp of the basic knowledge of English, they should strengthen their oral training and let them form the habit of "speaking English". In order to better meet the needs of society, teachers must strengthen the cultivation of students' English communicative competence in the teaching process.

(4) Reform English teaching according to the specific teaching situation. English teaching reform covers a wide range.
