Cross-reference is to use the reference number to insert the text as an index, and it needs to be an endnote.
Therefore, cross-references and endnotes do not conflict, and no matter how you toss, you insert documents with the built-in functions of Word. Compared with using document software, the advantage of Word's built-in function is that it can jump (some software supports it and some don't), but the disadvantage is that it is more troublesome. At the same time, the bibliography has to be written/generated by itself. Moreover, the index generated in this way is based on the bibliographic order, which should actually be the other way around, that is, the index order determines the bibliographic number.
What's more, if you copy and paste the bibliography directly from the internet without using document management software, the quality of the bibliography will never be too high.
