What's it like to wear an eye patch, take the escalator and take the underground passage? Yesterday, 38 students of the first orienteering training course for the blind in Hangzhou conducted orienteering training through elevators, tunnels, footbridges and buses for the first time. Our reporter also blindfolded and became a "blind man", paying the price of wrestling in exchange for personal feelings.
I put on an eye patch and took a cane to determine the general direction. I was still confident and panicked. Walking in the dark world, I don't know what obstacles are around. I don't know where my feet are going. Just when I was at a loss, the guide's hand gently touched the back of my hand. I grabbed this hand like a straw and felt dependent.
"Relax and move on." Under the guidance of the entourage of the blind guide, I took a cautious step. Usually used to striding, this next step is empty. Had to take small steps.
"It's an escalator. Go down. " Knowing that the blind guide is nearby, my heart is still in a panic, and my eyes are so dark, as if stepping on this foot is an abyss. I hesitated for a long time before taking a step, but this step was very floating. If I hadn't held the hand of the blind guide, I would have turned my face.
"Here we are. Go ahead. " When I got out of the escalator, I stumbled heavily at the entrance of the escalator because I couldn't perceive the specific distance between the elevator and the underground passage.
We're going through the underpass. Under the guidance of the blind guide, I put the blind stick on the center line of my body, click on both sides of the blind road with the strength of my wrist, and try to make the arc on both sides of the blind stick as large as possible to determine whether there are obstacles around. Walking on the blind road, I deeply understand the difficulty of walking for the blind: it is the fear of the unknown world around me.
When you go upstairs, it's time to take the stairs. Hold the blind stick straight and make it 90 degrees with the ground. Use the sound made by the blind stick touching the next step to determine whether to lift your feet upstairs. When going downstairs, put the blind stick in front of you at an angle of 45 degrees with the ground, and use the special sound made by the blind stick hitting the previous step to judge whether the front is a step or a flat ground. Although I have had two training experiences, I still stumble when going up and down the stairs, either touching the escalator next to me or raising my feet at the wrong time, and I will trip if I am too early or too late. If someone is on the stairs, I'm sure I'll bump into several.
How hard it is to be blind! After experiencing the taste of walking blindfolded, I sighed in my heart.
According to the instructor at the scene, blind people must first know where they are when they walk directionally. Where are you going? How to get there? Have a mental map before you go. On the road, the blind road is an extension of the blind cane. With the guidance of the blind road, the blind will not go astray.
When I took off my blindfold, I sincerely felt how difficult it was to walk such a short distance. I think: please take care of the blind road and leave a safe road for the blind.
I hope I can help you.
