They took the lead in the research on the neuroanatomy of livestock and poultry in China, published the first monograph on neuroanatomy, and put forward a new theory of extracentral reflex arc, which formed distinct features in the brain nuclear localization and innervation of internal organs of livestock and poultry, the expression characteristics of neuropeptide in hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis and immune factors, and the relationship between neuropeptide and hormones and immune factors.

Monoclonal antibodies against Marek's disease tumor-associated surface antigen (MATSA) were prepared by animal pathology, which laid a foundation for the related research of Marek's disease and the development of anti-tumor drugs based on monoclonal antibodies. Artificial synthesis of immunogen against swainsonine induces animals to produce antibodies with strong specificity and high titer. Through hybridoma cell technology, hybridoma cells secreting specific antibodies against swainsonine were obtained, and monoclonal antibodies against swainsonine were prepared, which explored a new way to prevent and treat livestock locoweed poisoning. The signal transduction pathway of apoptosis induced by natural products, the construction of a new baculovirus surface display system platform and the development of common animal virus subunit vaccines are being carried out.

Research and Development of New Veterinary Drugs Since 2006, a variety of liquid nanomaterials, polymer nanomaterials and metal nanomaterials have been developed, and 35 national invention patents have been applied for in the research of nano veterinary drugs, and 7 have been authorized, which has certain advantages and characteristics in the research of new veterinary drugs in China and has achieved a number of achievements with independent intellectual property rights. At present, the veterinary basic research platform consists of animal anatomy, animal histology and embryology, veterinary pharmacology, animal pathology laboratory and slicing room.

Research characteristics

Establishment of Immortal Cell Line and Study on Pathogenic Mechanism A porcine vascular endothelial cell line was established, which has been passed to122nd generation and used to study the pathogenic mechanism of classical swine fever virus. The epithelial cell line of porcine small intestine was established, which has been passed down to 90 generations and used to study the pathogenic mechanism of porcine diarrhea.

Study on New Vaccine for Livestock and Poultry A genetically engineered cell vaccine for classical swine fever was successfully developed by using the established porcine vascular endothelial cell line. The fowlpox virus live vector vaccine and adenovirus live vector vaccine expressing E0 and E2 genes of classical swine fever virus were successfully developed. Cell vaccine of infectious bursal disease in chicken and engineering vaccine of avian Escherichia coli fusion strain with different outer membrane protein types were successfully developed.

Diagnosis and differential diagnosis methods of major diseases of livestock and poultry The RT-PCR differential diagnosis methods for distinguishing virulent classical swine fever infection from attenuated rabbit vaccine immunization, for distinguishing virulent, virulent and attenuated strains of infectious bursal disease virus, and for distinguishing virulent and attenuated strains of Newcastle disease were established. A PCR diagnostic method for bovine tuberculosis, mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and rabbit brucellosis was established. The diagnostic technical standard of goat caseous lymphadenitis (NY/T 908—2004) was established.

Research features:

Developmental biology major:

Developmental biology in our hospital has formed two distinctive research directions: (1) animal cloning and animal transgenic technology research; (2) Study on the mechanism of animal morphogenesis. Great progress has been made in the mechanism of mammalian germ cells, the molecular regulation mechanism of early embryo implantation, the polarity of early embryo cleavage, the abnormal development of animal cloned embryos and epigenetics, and it has formed a national second-class key discipline of biology featuring the study of cattle and sheep cloning mechanism and animal morphogenesis mechanism.

Cell biology major:

The specialty of cell biology in our college has formed an advantage specialty featuring nanotechnology research. Since 2006, we have developed a variety of liquid nanomaterials, polymer nanomaterials and metal nanomaterials, applied for 50 national invention patents and granted 17, which is in a leading position in domestic nanotechnology research.

Neurobiological research:

Taking pigs, sheep and chickens as representative animals of livestock and poultry, a series of studies on the brain structure of hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad reproductive axis and the neural-immune-endocrine network in different physiological periods were carried out, and the research direction of neural-immune-endocrine network on reproductive regulation was formed. Taking livestock and poultry as experimental animal models, the distribution and changes of neuropeptides, hormones and immune cytokines in nerve, endocrine and immune organs at different development stages of major animal diseases were studied, and the research direction of "neurobiological mechanism of animal diseases" was formed. The new research results will provide a new theoretical basis for livestock breeding and disease prevention and control.
