Every graduation season in China, graduates who are approaching graduation will start to worry about the repetition rate of papers, and it is common to check the duplicates until midnight every day. Even so, due to more and more strict requirements, there are still many students who fail to pass the defense once or twice every year, or even seriously delay the completion. In the past, the requirement for duplicate checking of papers in China was not so high, but in recent years, the problem of academic fraud has become more and more serious, and even artists' academic qualifications have been falsified, the most representative of which is the HowNet incident in Zhai Tianlin. It is precisely because of the Zhai Tianlin incident that the duplicate checking rate of papers must be reduced to below 15%, and even some schools require that the repetition rate be reduced to below 10%. Intuitively, this can really reduce the probability of students plagiarizing articles and enhance academic originality. But from another point of view, low duplicate checking rate will increase students' pressure and focus on some unimportant words to reduce their weight. This is not worth the loss for academic creativity. For academic papers, the requirements for duplicate checking are too high. I have the following views.

First, it is a good thing to reduce the duplicate checking rate, but we should not pursue the low repetition rate excessively, although the original intention of reducing the repetition rate is to prevent students from academic fraud and improve academic originality. However, since the Zhai Tianlin incident, many students have reduced the repetition rate of shifting requirements, which is not a good thing, because there are many professional words that cannot be replaced.

Second, excessive demand for low repetition rate will lead to increased pressure on students. The excessive demand for low repetition rate may lead to the increase of students' repeated searches, but each school usually only gives one free inquiry opportunity, which will cause considerable economic pressure on students.

Third, excessively demanding low repetition rate may lead to the decline of students' academic creativity, while weak thesis writing and excessively demanding low repetition rate may lead to the decline of students' academic creativity, because they may not want to write any more papers after repeated revisions, which is not good for students to graduate.
