1997 10 was transferred to the Department of Urban and Resources of Nanjing University (now School of Geography and Marine Science). He is currently the director, professor and doctoral supervisor of GIS and Remote Sensing Laboratory. He has been to Japan, Britain, the United States, Egypt, Italy, Germany and other countries for cooperative research and attended international academic conferences.
1987 was elected as the vice chairman of the 3rd World Remote Sensing Association (TWARS) at the International Remote Sensing Congress held in Italy in March (1987- 1994). He is currently the executive director of China Remote Sensing Application Society and the director of Environmental Remote Sensing Branch of China Geographical Society.
He has been engaged in the research and teaching of remote sensing and geographic information system for many years, and has special skills in the research fields of remote sensing digital image processing, water resources remote sensing, ice and snow disaster monitoring and so on.
