In what year did Einstein publish a paper on electrodynamics, which shocked the physics community? On electrodynamics of moving objects, special relativity?
During his college years in Zurich, Einstein spent all his time teaching himself the major works of Mach, Kirchhoff, Helmholtz, Hertz, Boltzmann, Lorenz and Maxwell. He thinks that self-study is more suitable for independent thinking of scientific problems than attending lectures and taking notes. In June, 1902, I was employed as a trial technician in the Patent Office in Bern, Switzerland. There, he made full use of his spare time to think about major problems in physics. 1905, when Einstein was only 26 years old, he published a paper on electrodynamics that shocked the physics community, and the special theory of relativity was born.
