What is porcine epidemic diarrhea?
The disease is an acute contact intestinal infectious disease of pigs caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus. It is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration, and it spreads quickly and widely. Pigs of all ages are susceptible, and the incidence of piglets, shelf pigs and fattening pigs is almost 100%. Through digestive tract and respiratory tract infection, it occurs frequently in cold season every year, spreads to the whole group within a few days, and naturally subsides after more than 20 days.

[symptoms]

The disease is basically similar to infectious gastroenteritis. Piglets suddenly vomited within 10 days and developed watery diarrhea, which was grayish yellow, with a course of 3-4 days and died of dehydration, with a mortality rate of 50%. In the late lactation period and piglets, they are characterized by poor appetite, listlessness, watery diarrhea, low or slightly high body temperature, and gradually recover to health in 4 ~ 7 days, and generally do not die.

[prevention]

(1) Swine is immunized against epidemic diarrhea and infectious gastroenteritis, and pregnant sows are injected at sea point 30 days before delivery. The newborn piglets gained immunity after eating milk.

(2) The newborn piglets were injected with porcine epidemic diarrhea-transmissible gastroenteritis vaccine before breastfeeding.

[Treatment] There is no specific medicine, only symptomatic treatment. Rehydration to prevent dehydration, injection of antibiotics to prevent secondary infection. Weaned piglets, young pigs and fattening pigs can recover naturally as long as they strengthen nursing. In addition, the newborn piglets were given oral high-immunity serum of rehabilitation sows, daily 10 ml for 3 days, which had a certain preventive effect.
