Ye Lan is a well-known educator in China. His main academic part-time jobs include: Convenor of Pedagogy Discipline Evaluation Group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, member of National Education Science Planning Leading Group and leader of Pedagogy Principle Discipline Group, Vice President of China Education Society and Vice President of Shanghai Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences. He used to be the director of the Education Department of East China Normal University, the dean of the School of Educational Science and Technology, the vice president of East China Normal University, and the first director of the Institute of Basic Education Reform and Development. The main research fields are pedagogy principles, educational research methodology, basic education and contemporary teacher education reform in China. His published monographs include Introduction to Education, Preliminary Study on Methodology of Educational Research, New Basic Education-Exploration and Understanding of School Reform in Contemporary China, etc. The series and research reports written and edited include Meta-research on Education Discipline, Basic Education Reform in China at the Turn of the Century, Exploration and Research on New Basic Education, Research on the Development of New Basic Education, and Annual Report on the Development of Education Discipline in China, etc. He has published more than 80 papers in academic journals such as China Social Sciences and Educational Research.
