Indicates that the paper has been submitted successfully. Next, the journal staff will check whether the paper format and repetition rate meet the requirements, and the articles that meet the requirements will be assigned to the journal editors for processing.
2. Waiting for management processing:
It means waiting for the responsible editor to deal with it. Before editing the manuscript, the assistant is responsible for reviewing the completeness of the manuscript. Incomplete, immediately ask the author to supplement relevant materials as required. Many journals will complete this step when the system displays the contributions.
3. Edit invitation:
This stage is not available in all journals. This state means that the paper has been handed over to the editor and is waiting for his acceptance.
4. With editor:
This state shows that the editor has accepted the responsibility of dealing with the paper. At this time, the editor has read the paper preliminarily, and if he thinks the paper is suitable for the journal, he will send it to peer review.
Papers that do not meet the scope of the journal or the standards of the journal can be returned to the author before external review. In this case, the state may become "in the process of decision-making". In this case, the author will receive a rejection notice within a few days.
During this process, "Edit Assigned" may appear, indicating that the manuscript has been assigned to an editor-in-chief or deputy editor-in-chief.
In addition, "Edit Rejects Invitation" may appear, which means that the editor refuses the invitation and the editor will be reassigned to other editing processes.
5. Invited reviewers:
The editor has sent an invitation to review the manuscript, waiting for the reviewer to accept it. Sometimes, this state may last for a long time, and then change back to "editor". Perhaps the reviewer refuses to review the manuscript and the editor needs to find another reviewer.
6. Under review (peer review):
The reviewer is reviewing the manuscript. At this time, the paper is externally reviewed by peer review, because peer review is free and requires a lot of energy, and this process needs to last for a long time, usually 1-2 months. If the invited reviewer cancels the review, it will be underlined and the editor will invite other reviewers again.
Peer review is the most time-consuming link in SCI paper review, and it is also the most critical link that affects magazine decision-making.
7. The required review has been completed:
Indicates that the audit opinion has been returned for editing. Sometimes, after reading the review report, the editor may feel it necessary to invite other reviewers to review. At this point, the status of the system may change to "under review" again.
8. In the decision-making process:
Indicates that the editor is making a decision based on the articles reviewed. If necessary, the editor will discuss with other members of the editorial department at this stage. Once this state occurs, the author will usually receive a notice within a few days.
9. Reject:
The decision made by the reviewer after reading the content or reviewing the comments indicates that the paper was rejected. This is the most common state, and the rejection rate of well-known magazines can reach 90%.
10. Major version:
Need a lot of changes, does not necessarily mean acceptance. It is recommended that the reviewers evaluate well and have the opportunity to be admitted. It must be revised in strict accordance with the opinions, and the reviewers will reject the manuscript if they are slightly dissatisfied. Nowadays, due to the "paper factory" and academic fraud, the proportion of manuscripts rejected is getting higher and higher.
1 1. Minor version:
Some modifications are needed. In principle, it is decided to accept the manuscript, or to accept the opinions of the reviewers with an open mind and make one-on-one revisions.
12. Revised draft submitted:
The author has submitted a revised manuscript and is now waiting for the periodical to check the typesetting.
13. Accepted:
It means that the editor is satisfied with the author's revision and decides to accept the manuscript.
