NASA has released a spacecraft concept machine-IXS Enterprise, which can theoretically fly faster than light and support super-long interstellar travel!

Harold White, a physicist at NASA University, and Rademaker, a 3D artist, released the latest conceptual design of the project.

According to Harold, the design of IXS enterprise is based on the warp drive theory of Mexican physicist Harkawy Ye. In a paper published in 1994, Alku Weil proposed that an engine can be made to make the front space shrink and the rear space expand, and the spacecraft can be propelled through the "deformation" of the space. If it can be realized, the spacecraft will be carried forward by a "curvature bubble". It has no acceleration in the local reference frame, so it will not be limited by the speed of general relativity, and there will be no relativistic effects such as time slowdown.

The spacecraft in American sci-fi movies "Adventure in the Starry Sky" and "Star Trek" applied the theory of warp drive. But at present, this design is still in the conceptual stage, and there is no breakthrough in the research of "warp drive theory" of NASA. Harold plans to experiment on the earth first to prove warp drive's theory. Once the theory is confirmed, we will start to drive at warp speed, then try to go to the moon and Mars, and finally realize the goal of interstellar travel.
