What is Bashan Emerald?
Bashan jade is Bashan jade.

Bashanyu was originally named "Basanyu". The original stone of Bashan jade is a kind of "brick material", with coarse crystal material, loose structure, dry water and poor bottom, but rich colors, such as lavender, light green, green or cyan gray. It is a special low-grade jade, containing amphibole, albite and other minerals.

Basanyu is a new species of jade first discovered in an unknown mine in Myanmar in 1983. A few years ago, because people didn't know enough about it, the name of this jade species in China was quite confusing. It was called "mountaineering jade" (or "mountaineering stone") in papers or news reports. By the late 1990s, it had been called "83 jade" in China's gem industry.

Extended data:

Commercial value of Bashan jadeite;

(1) Color: It is the key to evaluate the quality of Bashan jade. Based on the previous research, we can consider the following four aspects: purity, richness, uniformity and coordination. Purity means that the color of Bashan jade should be dominated by green tones, without or as little as possible other miscellaneous tones, otherwise the stronger the miscellaneous tones, the lower the value of the jade itself.

Bashan jade has a slight blue tone, which has a negative impact on its jade value. Brightness requires the color of colorful jade to be bright, that is, the saturation and lightness of colorful treasure should be properly matched. Shallow is not gorgeous, and thick influences are transparent.

Bashan jade is light in color and its saturation is not bright. Uniformity and harmony means that the color distribution of jade is uniform and extensive, and the green part and its surrounding tone colors can achieve the degree of coordination and contrast. The green color of Bashan jade is patchy. Not uniform, but well coordinated.

(2) Cleanliness: refers to the number of inclusions and cracks contained in jade. The existence of these inclusions affects the beauty of color. Due to the optimization treatment such as rinsing, the purity of Bashan jade is generally good.

(3) Cutting: It is of little significance to evaluate Bashan jade. Bashan jade is used for small carving and decoration. And its cutting is relatively simple, so it accounts for a small proportion of its value.

(4) Cracks: refer to cracks and cracks in jade. After cemented filling, the cracks in Bashan jade are effectively hidden, so this item has little influence on the evaluation of Bashan jade (especially the finished product).

(5) Transparency: it is an important evaluation factor after color. Bashan jade products have high transparency, and good ones can be close to high-quality jadeite. Good transparency can make Bashan jade green and elastic, no longer dull. This is what the jargon of "Shiyu" refers to.

The relationship between transparency and color should be based on color, because "colorless species are better than colored species." The rapid spread of Bashan jade among the people can be largely attributed to its high transparency.

(6) Structure: refers to the thickness of crystal particles, the shape of crystals and their combination. The crystal particles are fine, and the jadeite will intuitively give people a delicate and dense feeling, and the brightness after polishing is also strong. On the contrary, the crystal has coarse grains, strong sense of sand grains and loose texture, so it is difficult to get a smooth surface after polishing, and its value naturally plummets.
