After World War II, social Democrats believed that socialism was a lasting task to strive for and defend freedom and justice, and was tested in freedom and justice. When the realization of this task does not need to fundamentally change the ownership relationship of the means of production, they replaced the elimination of private ownership stipulated in their pre-war program with democratic supervision of the economy.
Emphasizing various forms of public ownership should not be regarded as an end in itself, let alone a specific medicine to cure social ills. After the mid-1990s, the issue of ownership was no longer mentioned in the declaration of the Socialist International Congress.
When history entered the 2 1 century, although social democracy and socialist party have developed into one of the mainstream political forces in the world for a long period of time, the rapid development and changes of the whole world have made them face a series of problems and challenges again, and the socialist party still cannot get rid of its weak position relative to the Conservative Party in the near future.
With the great changes in the international situation, the rapid development of globalization and the diversification of the information society, the socialist party is generally facing severe challenges in politics, system, behavior and development mode, and is currently in a difficult period of reform and adjustment.
Politically, the so-called "third way" between traditional liberalism and neo-liberalism and traditional social democracy leads to the convergence of its policy proposition with the center-right party, and its political characteristics are vague, which leads to the serious confusion of some of its party member and voters and the loss of trust in the Socialist Party.
Whether social democracy and the socialist party can re-demonstrate their critical ability to capitalism, reshape their own characteristics and image, meet the people's requirements for development, justice, democracy and security, and win the support of the broad masses is the first major issue.
The increasing international economic competition caused by globalization and the widespread implementation of neo-liberal policies have seriously impacted the traditional economic and social development model and state management model characterized by welfare state that social democracy has always advocated, and seriously questioned the original economic theory and policies of the socialist party, making it impossible to solve the problems of developing economy, increasing employment, further improving people's living standards and maintaining social stability in the new situation of globalization according to the old methods.
Therefore, it is the second difficult problem to deal with the relationship between economic interests, social equity and political stability in order to meet the challenges of globalization and fierce international competition.
With the enhancement of people's self-awareness, the trend of individualism in pursuit of personal values has spread, the traditional values such as solidarity and mutual assistance have been greatly weakened, the cohesion of the people has declined, and the tendency of paying attention to practical interests, being divorced from politics and being non-ideological has continued to develop.
The political reaction is that voters' political swing has increased, and people no longer decide their political choices solely from ideology or social status, thus weakening the political appeal and appeal of mainstream political parties, especially the socialist party.
Under such conditions, whether we can maintain and constantly expand our social foundation and win the recognition and support of not only middle and lower class voters, but also upper and middle class voters, thus ensuring our survival and development space, is the third big question.
Great changes have taken place in social democracy in the past 20 centuries. It has experienced a fundamental transition from theory to practice, an important transition from weak to gradually powerful, a successful transition from a turbulent war environment to a peaceful and constructive environment, and a process of growing alienation from scientific socialism and capitalism.
The changes they have experienced are not only their successful practice and joy, but also the test of their failures and setbacks, which makes them realize transformation in constant boredom, adjustment and innovation, and develop and revitalize in the changes that meet the requirements of the times.
They also changed and remolded themselves in this evolution, making it a social and political ideological trend with certain innovative vitality, and occupying a place in the interweaving and cleaning of different social ideological trends in the world.
