Henan Opera, which originated in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, was developed on the basis of popular songs (folk songs and minor tunes) in Henan Province, and absorbed the singing arts of Beiqu Xiansuo, Shaanxi Opera and Zhou Pu Bangzi.

With the deepening of research and the confirmation of a large number of materials, especially in the process of compiling Henan Volume of China Opera Records, experts from all sides conducted extensive investigation and demonstration, and came to the conclusion that the earliest birthplace of Henan Opera was in the ancient capital Kaifeng and surrounding counties.

It is clearly recorded in Dream of Tokyo in Song Dynasty that there are Sangjiawazi, Beiwa and Ciliwa in Kaifeng, Tokyo in Northern Song Dynasty. Goulan tile houses are all over the city, and a Goulan shed can accommodate thousands of spectators. At that time, the large-scale drama "Mu Lian Save Mother" had been staged in Kaifeng.

1924, Wang Yicheng published an article "General Theory of Henan Opera" in the supplement of Jinghua Daily and Drama Weekly. Henan Opera in this paper is the general name of all kinds of operas in Henan Province.

/kloc-in the autumn of 0/947, folk newspapers in Luoyang, Kaifeng, Lanzhou and Xi 'an all used this title to refer to Henan Bangzi.

At the end of 1947, Li Zhan, an educator of Henan Opera, established the first Henan Opera performance group "Guangxin Henan Opera Troupe" in Lanzhou.

1948, the first school in the history of Henan Opera-the private Guangxin Henan Opera School was established, which was the first institution to use the name of Henan Opera.

1950, in order to develop drama, the Ministry of Culture of the Central South Military and Political Commission sent people to Zhengzhou to recruit a group of Henan Bangzi actors to Wuhan to form the "People's Henan Bangzi Troupe" headed by Bangzi King Chen Suzhen, Wang Kuiyuan and Huang Zhongxiang. After the performance, Deng Zihui, vice chairman of the Central South Military and Political Committee, met the actors concerned. Talking about Henan Bangzi, Deng Zihui said: "Henan Bangzi is another name, and Henan is the abbreviation of Henan Province. I think it is more appropriate to call Henan Opera. " 1August, 950, when the troupe toured Henan and Hebei, it was called Henan Bangzi Henan Opera. The word "Henan Opera" officially replaced Henan Bangzi.
