Florence, which means "the capital of flowers" in Italian and nicknamed "Fei Lengcui" in Chinese, is a city in central Italy and the capital of Tuscany. Florence is located in the western foot basin in the middle of Apennines, and it is a transportation hub connecting the railway and highway networks in northern and southern Italy. The Arno River runs through the city, with seven bridges across its banks. The population is about 444,000. Florence is not only a cultural tourist attraction, but also a treasure house of world culture and art. There are more than 40 museums and galleries, more than 69 palaces, many churches and various forms of squares in the city, which have a large collection of excellent art and exquisite cultural relics. As the birthplace of the European Renaissance, Dante, Galileo, Machiavelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Netro and Philippe Lippi all lived here. In addition, Florence is the original capital of Italy and the birthplace of opera, and Florence dialect is also considered as the origin of Italian.
