2. Flexible choice of professional elective courses.

In addition to public elective courses for all college students and professional elective courses for some college students, college students can also choose compulsory courses from other colleges or their own other majors as their own professional elective courses. The flexibility of this choice greatly improves the freedom of college students to choose courses and expands the coverage of professional elective courses.

3. The teaching content of specialized elective courses is highly professional.

Because specialized elective courses have the function of deepening professional knowledge, their teaching content is usually very professional and the knowledge taught is more profound. By studying these courses, college students who are interested in further study in this field can obtain more professional, refined and in-depth professional knowledge and ability to meet the different needs of different students.

Third, the problems of elective courses for college students in our school

According to the educational function of elective courses and the characteristics of elective courses offered by schools, and referring to the actual situation at present, we can find that there are many problems in offering elective courses for college students in our school.

1, the number of public elective courses is insufficient, which limits the implementation of elective courses.

Due to the lack of teaching resources and insufficient attention from schools, there are some problems in the number and types of public elective courses offered by college students, which makes students have no choice but to take elective courses according to compulsory courses, resulting in the flow of public elective courses. At the same time, the time of public elective courses is often uncertain, random, variable and lack of coherence. Moreover, in order to avoid conflicts with students' other courses, classes are usually arranged at night, which leads to insufficient preparation for students before class and unsatisfactory classroom effect, and does not really play the role of students' all-round development.

2. The lack of communication in specialized elective courses increases the difficulty of course selection.

When offering professional elective courses, colleges often only focus on the needs of their own college students, leaving the courses in the middle of the colleges without considering the specific conditions of students in other colleges. As a result, college students often have to give up elective courses because of their relatively weak professional foundation and the deviation between the course content and the actual situation. At the same time, due to the complicated procedures and high threshold of cross-college elective courses, there is a lack of communication between colleges, which brings a lot of inconvenience to students, course selection teachers and both colleges, increases the difficulty of course selection, and makes many students flinch, so they have to choose professional elective courses that are relatively easy to master and choose in our college.

3. Lack of understanding of elective courses deviates from the original intention of elective courses.

As a school, there is no special research and macro guidance on elective courses, lack of scientific orientation, low attention and poor supervision, which affects the teaching quality of elective courses to some extent and cannot achieve the purpose of offering elective courses and realize the educational function of elective courses. As a teacher, the orientation of elective courses is not clear, the attitude is not correct, and elective courses are taught as professional courses, which leads to confusion between compulsory courses and elective courses. As a student, I don't know the purpose and function of elective courses, and I don't fully realize the importance of elective courses. In addition, they lack scientific guidance when choosing courses, so they are more casual when choosing courses, and often choose courses that are not difficult to learn, have low requirements for teachers and are easy to pass exams, rather than choosing according to their personal development and hobbies.

Considering that the tutorial system is mainly used for the cultivation of college students, the tutor's role is to guide students' study, morality and life, so the tutor can guide students to choose courses. As a tutor, an analysis from the perspective of students' majors, combined with students' hobbies and personality characteristics, can provide some reference opinions for students to choose courses, so that students can avoid one-sidedness, blindness and utilitarianism in course selection to a certain extent. College counselors can also undertake the task of guiding students to choose courses, regularly publicize courses for students, so that students can fully realize the true significance and important role of elective courses, and don't actively participate in the study of elective courses just to complete credits. At the same time, in view of the relatively easy communication between students and the easier acceptance of their opinions, senior brothers and sisters can be allowed to guide junior brothers and sisters to choose courses.
