How to Number Formulas in word Automatically
After inserting the formula, put the formula in a separate paragraph, right-click the formula and select Format Object | Layout as the embedding type (Word default).

When the cursor is placed behind the formula, don't (pay attention to "don't") select the formula, and select "caption" in the "Insert | Reference" menu (in 2007, it was reference-insert caption). If you set the tab stop manually, there is no guarantee that the position of the central tab stop and the right tab stop will be the same every time. A simpler method is to save the setting of formula paragraphs as a style, and apply this style to all formula paragraphs, which is simple and convenient, and can keep the tab stops of all formula paragraphs consistent.

How to save the setting of a formula paragraph as a style: after setting the format of the formula (that is, the number has been inserted through the caption, and the formula is centered through the tab stop, and the number is at the end of the right line), select the formula and its number, and click Format | Style and Format, and the style and format bar will appear on the right side of word. Click New Style at the top of the column, and a new style box pops up. How to apply this style to a new formula paragraph: after the title is new formula number, select the formula and number, and select "My" in the "Style and Format" column on the right side of word. At this point, the tab stop setting has been applied to the new formula. Put the cursor in front of the formula and press the Tab key, and the formula will be aligned with the middle tab stop. Then move the cursor between the formula and the left parenthesis, press the tab key to insert a tab, and the number will run to the end of the line.
