2. If maternal love is referred to as an emotion, there is no psychological "distortion". Because from a psychological point of view, emotion is a subjective reflection of individuals' likes and dislikes of external things, and there is no difference between normal and abnormal. Especially in humanistic psychology, any kind of emotion itself is neutral and worth understanding and affirming;
If it refers to a specific behavior of "maternal love" in reality, then there is indeed a boundary between normal and abnormal. Usually, in clinical psychological diagnosis, the following indicators are used for judgment:
(1) What most people accept. For example, incest between parents and children, even if the parties can accept each other, is still considered abnormal because most people can't agree with it in their social environment;
(2) the feelings of the parties themselves. This is the most commonly used psychological diagnosis index. If the client has unacceptable pain, then clinically, it is generally considered whether to make an abnormal judgment. For example, a mother cares about every detail of her son, and she feels pain herself, but she can't let go. At this time, she will consider whether her behavior is abnormal. Specifically, the operation should be judged by combining various physiological and psychological professional test methods;
(3) Social function indicators. This is the adaptability to its social environment. That is to say, if an individual can't adapt to his environment, even if he doesn't think there is anything wrong with himself and people around him can't accept it, he will still consider diagnosing abnormality. For example, under the banner of "maternal love", mothers interfere with their sons, even frequently go to their sons' units to make trouble, or directly break into their sons' daughter-in-law's bedroom to interfere with their roommates, and so on. Generally, this situation is more common in patients with personality disorders.
