How to set everything for word cross-reference?
Word picture cross-reference Set all pictures as follows:

1. Insert all pictures in the document.

2. Select the first picture, select the Reference tab on the Word menu bar, and click the Insert Cross Reference button.

3. In the cross-reference dialog box that pops up, select chart as the reference type, and display only numbers. Select 1, 2,3 … as the number format, check Insert Reference to apply this format immediately, and click Insert.

4. The first picture will be automatically numbered as "Figure 1" and displayed as "Figure 1" in cross-reference.

5. Select the second picture, click the "Insert Cross Reference" button, and repeat step 3. At this point, the second picture will be automatically numbered as "Figure 2" and displayed as "Figure 2" in the cross reference.

6. Repeat the above steps to set cross-references for all pictures in the document.

7. If you add or delete pictures in the document, you need to regenerate the cross reference. The method is to select the References tab on the Word menu bar, click the Update Table of Contents button, and then select Update Whole Table of Contents to regenerate all cross-references.
