The total area of the development zone is 80 square kilometers, and the industry is mainly outside the zone, and the tertiary industry is increasingly prosperous. The economic indicators of the whole region have doubled for many years, and the total economic output has grown rapidly, accounting for an increasing proportion of Taicang's economy. It has gradually become a pilot area for Taicang's economic growth, a demonstration area for outward development and a new urban area for urban construction.

The overall planning of the development zone is divided into three stages, which gradually develop from west to east. Within the first-phase development 15 square kilometers, the infrastructure such as roads, communications, water, electricity and gas is complete, and attractive industrial areas, residential areas and commercial areas are springing up like mushrooms after rain.

The construction of roads, bridges, greening, street lamps, water, electricity, steam and communication facilities in the 25 square kilometers modern industrial zone planned in the second phase has been fully rolled out.

The third phase covers an area of 40 square kilometers and strives to build a high-tech industrial base through effective planning, guidance and industrial layout.
