On the Importance of Campus Culture to School Education

abstract:

Campus culture includes material culture, institutional culture and spiritual culture. Strengthening the construction of campus culture is an important content for school administrators to manage schools, and it is also an important prerequisite for schools to achieve the goal of implementing quality education. This paper puts forward some valuable suggestions on how to strengthen the construction of campus culture and improve the level of school education.

"It is necessary to strengthen the construction of campus culture and carry out activities to create a safe campus, a civilized campus, a green campus and a harmonious campus." This is a new idea of school management clearly pointed out in the Outline of National Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development Plan (20 10-2020). Then, how to strengthen the construction of campus culture in specific work and improve the level of school education?

First, strengthen the construction of campus "hardware" and build school material culture.

Material and cultural elements in campus culture, such as campus geographical environment, architectural pattern, sculpture, flowers and trees, activity places, restaurants and dormitories, school emblem, etc., are all hardware, which creates basic conditions for the construction of campus cultural environment, and the atmosphere it creates is very profound for students. The construction of campus material culture needs investment, so the hardware construction of campus is often restricted by the problem of funds. Taking the geographical environment of the campus as an example, the choice of the geographical location of the campus directly affects what the external environment of the campus is like and what external influences the school will suffer. In order to meet the needs of education and teaching, some schools do not hesitate to invest huge sums of money to relocate, and then make plans for relocation. This is the responsibility for education. For example, in recent years, many schools have been trapped in a prosperous city with a strong commercial atmosphere because of urban planning and village street construction, and schools have to move because they are worried that students' bodies and minds will be adversely affected. This is a fact. In fact, schools can also engage in construction without spending money, such as teachers and students engaging in greening, teachers and students with expertise in painting and calligraphy decorating campus walls, making publicity columns and so on. Walking into the gates of some schools, you can see the railings in front of classrooms, the corridors of teaching buildings, office buildings and experimental buildings, and the images of running schools or scientists or heroes and their famous sayings hanging on the walls of conference rooms, all of which are the works of teachers and students of the school, which is refreshing.

Second, strengthen school humanistic management and build campus institutional culture.

System is the criterion of school work, and it is the guarantee for the school to manage teachers and students and realize educational tasks. Therefore, "without rules, there would be no Fiona Fang". The system formulated by the school should be the continuation of the state's major policies, the actual needs of the school's self-management, and should reflect the overall will of the school. Therefore, the formulation of the system needs legal procedures, comprehensive content and strong operability, and it must not be "exaggerated" because of poor operability. The execution of the system is also a kind of culture, and the execution of the system is the most important. Otherwise, no matter how good the system is, it will be a dead letter if it is not implemented. One school changed its principal because of poor management. The new headmaster did not "perform major surgery" on the school as others thought, but strictly implemented the original systems of the school. As a result, the school has become an advanced unit.

Third, build a rich campus spiritual culture with a number of activities as the carrier.

Students are in the formation stage of values, and a healthy campus culture can finally internalize external education into students' quality, so that students can form good values and healthy moral values. In this process, it is particularly important to cultivate campus spiritual culture. Consciously carry out some healthy and beneficial cultural activities on campus, so that students can understand history, society, accept tradition, plan their lives, enrich their experiences and improve their quality, thus forming a scientific outlook on life and values. The development of campus cultural activities can also give full play to students' writing, social interaction, social practice and other potentials, and improve students' comprehensive quality. Some schools unilaterally pursue the enrollment rate, ignoring aesthetic education and moral education, resulting in students' narrow knowledge, low cultural literacy and poor practical ability. Such schools have a low level of spiritual culture and education. There are many contents and methods for the construction of campus spiritual culture, such as the selection of civilized students and three excellent students, the collection of campus slogans and lyrics of school songs, campus broadcasting, health and environmental protection activities, charitable fund-raising, school newspapers, learning gardens, calligraphy and painting composition competitions, invention competitions, speech competitions, interest groups, art festivals, sports meetings and so on. In the construction of campus culture, students are the main body of activities, and students can participate in all aspects of campus culture independently under the stimulation of environmental atmosphere. Through the process of teacher's induction, interaction and cooperation, stable interest and excellent quality are cultivated. The process of campus culture development is actually the process of students' self-expression, self-education, continuous improvement and then socialization. The participation of teaching staff, including themselves, is also an important part of campus spiritual culture, and even plays a guiding role in the spiritual and cultural system of the school. Some schools have national teachers and provincial backbone teachers, and some schools have trained outstanding talents and won different honors. These are the spiritual wealth of the school, which plays an irreplaceable positive role in improving the social status and educational level of the school. Although campus culture is a subculture phenomenon attached to and subordinate to social culture, it has its limitations, but it is not passively influenced by the big environment. Campus culture can create a small environment, give the school a dynamic mechanism by standardizing the thoughts and behaviors of school members, improve the comprehensive quality of students, and then promote the development of the whole social culture and the improvement of national quality. Although the influence of campus culture on students is not immediate, it is steady and gradual. I believe that the optimized campus culture will inevitably improve the level of school education and bear the fruits of mature quality education.
