The Book of Chess written by Dunhuang was also an important Go book in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. There are also many Weiqi scores in the Tang Dynasty, among which Wang's chess skills have the greatest influence, which has been passed down to later generations and become an immortal work unanimously praised by Weiqi players in ancient and modern times. Wang was a chess player during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. Because of his superb chess skills, he was admitted to imperial academy and often played chess with Emperor Xuanzong in the palace.

Tangren in the Northern Song Dynasty is the representative work of China's ancient Weiqi theory. It was written in imitation of Sun Tzu's Art of War, with 13 articles.

Li Yimin was re-edited in the Song Dynasty, and this is the only surviving orphan. Written by Liu Zhongfu in Song Dynasty, it is divided into four parts: layout, invasion, use of troops and choice. The content is concise and the basic principles of Go are detailed. If Thirteen Pieces of Chess Manual comprehensively discusses the philosophy, competition, strategy, tactics and chess products of Weiqi, while Chess Manual Tactics only discusses the basic principles of layout, entry, killing and selection of each game, then it has higher practical value than Chess Manual.

The Ming and Qing Dynasties were the heyday of Weiqi, which made outstanding development in China, followed by the prosperity of Weiqi creation. During this period, especially in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, there were many Weiqi scores, among which the most famous ones were Love Letter, Fairy Tales from Stone Chambers, Chess Scores of Three Stories, Four Scores in a Hundred Years, Official Scores of Taocunzhai, Score of Stone, and Ten Scores of Danghu in Fan Shi, etc.
