Text close reading originated from an important semantic school in western literary theory in the 20th century. This school regards semantic analysis as the most basic method and means of literary criticism, in which close reading is an important method and distinctive feature of semantic interpretation of texts. Text interpretation is a generalization. In fact, there is no abstract and universal text interpretation method. Text interpretation is always concrete and empirical, such as stylistic interpretation, sociological interpretation, cultural interpretation, reception aesthetics interpretation and so on.
Basic characteristics of close reading of texts:
1, text centered.
2. Pay attention to the influence of context on semantic analysis.
3. Emphasize the internal organizational structure of the text.
