Professor mishkin's main research field is monetary policy and its influence on financial markets and the overall economy. He has published more than a dozen books, including Financial Markets and Institutions (4th Edition) (AddisonWesley, 2003), Inflation Index System: International Experience and Lessons (PrincetonUniversityPress, 1999) and Money, Interest Rate and Inflation (EdwardElgar, 1993), Application of Rational Expectation in Econometrics: Test of Policy Inefficiency and Efficient Market Model (UniversityofChicagoPress, 1983). In addition, he has published more than 100 academic papers in American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Economics, Journal of Finance and Journal of Monetary Economics.
Professor mishkin once worked in the editorial department of American Economic Review and served as the deputy editor of Business and Economic Statistics. He is also the editor of the Economic Policy Review of the Federal Reserve Bank of new york. He is currently the deputy editor-in-chief (member of the editorial board) of seven academic magazines, including Money, Credit and Banking, Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics Abstracts, International Money and Finance, International Finance, Indian Finance, Economic Policy Review and Economic Outlook. At the same time, he is also an adviser to the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund and many central banks in the world. He is also a member of the International Advisory Committee of the South African Financial Supervisory Authority, a member of the Economic Advisory Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank and an academic consultant.
