What's the difference between ketone group and carbonyl group?
Carbonyl and keto are actually the same functional group, but they are unique names in chemistry and life sciences. In chemistry, they are called carbonyl groups. In biology, carbonyl group is related to ketone compounds, so it is called keto group in life science. In fact, the two can be equivalent (its structure is shown in the figure).

Data expansion: Ketone group is a structural formula in which a carbon atom forms a double bond with an oxygen atom, and this carbon atom also forms a valence bond with two other carbon atoms. Ketone group is a group that can strongly absorb light waves around 300nm, and polymers containing ketone group are easy to absorb ultraviolet rays and cause photodegradation.

Physical characteristics: strong infrared absorption.

Chemical properties: Due to the strong electron-withdrawing property of oxygen, nucleophilic addition reaction is easy to occur on carbon atoms. Other common chemical reactions include nucleophilic reduction and aldol condensation.
