History of China Olympic Games

As a world power, China has forged an indissoluble bond with her since the birth of the modern Olympic Movement. 1894, when the IOC was preparing for the first Olympic Games, it sent an invitation to the Qing Dynasty in China at that time, but it didn't get a reply. After 1904, the Olympic movement gradually attracted the attention of some people of insight, and some domestic newspapers and magazines began to report on it, so that the Olympic spirit could be spread on the land of China. 19 13 The government of China participated in launching the Far East Games (formerly known as the "Far East Olympics"), the pioneer of the Asian Olympic Movement. 19 15 The International Olympic Committee recognizes the Far East Sports Federation and invites China to participate in the next Olympic Games and Olympic Committee meetings.

From 1952 to 1979, due to political reasons, China did not participate in several Olympic Games, while China Taipei sent a team to participate.

At the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, Yang from Taipei, China won the silver medal in the decathlon, which was the first Olympic medal won by China people. 1979, the International Olympic Committee resumed China's legal seat and decided that the name of the Olympic Committee of the People's Republic of China was "Chinese Olympic Committee" and the name of the Olympic Committee located in Taipei, Taiwan Province Province, China was "China Taipei Olympic Committee". Zhang Faqiang, Yu Zaiqing, Li Zhijian, Lin, Zhang Mao are vice presidents, and Tu Mingde and Wang Wei are secretary general. On May 8, 2000, the State Council Prime Minister Zhu Rongji made it clear that the China government attached great importance to and fully supported Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games, which would create favorable conditions for Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games. He pointed out that over the past 20 years of reform and opening up, China has made remarkable achievements in social, economic and cultural fields. Beijing's economic development and urban construction are changing with each passing day. Especially in recent years, Beijing's environmental conditions have improved, and efforts are being made to achieve the goals of fresh air, beautiful environment and good ecology as soon as possible. All these have laid a solid foundation for Beijing's bid to host the Olympic Games.

On June 20, 2000, Wang Wei, Secretary-General of Beijing Olympic Bid Committee, formally submitted an application report to the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland. The report answered 22 questions raised by the International Olympic Committee to the bidding cities, and stated Beijing's plans and ideas for preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games. This is the first official reply that Beijing submitted to the International Olympic Committee to bid for the 2008 Olympic Games.
