Li Xiuning, Princess Pingyang of the Tang Dynasty. Tang Gaozu Tang Gaozu's third daughter. Sister of Prince Li. Li Xiuning is one of the names of Princess Pingyang in her later novels, because her original name was forgotten. There are many novels with the names of Li Siniang, Li Xiuniang, Li Xiuying, Li Waner, Li Xiaomei and Li Sanmei. In some novels, they are called Li Pingyang or Li Pingyou, but they are named after their titles or homonyms.

It is pointed out that Princess Pingyang is one of the archetypal figures in the legend of Mulan in China. The main evidence is as follows:

People call Princess Pingyang "Li Niangzi" and her army "female soldier".

Female soldiers are well-known, and many people defected thousands of miles away. Soon, the number of female soldiers of Princess Pingyang exceeded 70,000.

Princess Pingyang's military intuition and insight are all geniuses, and Qu Tutong, the general of Sui Dynasty, suffered several great defeats under her. When Li Shimin fought in Weibei, she relied mainly on Princess Pingyang and female soldiers to win the battle.

In September 6 17, Li Yuan crossed the Yellow River and entered the customs. Princess Pingyang selected more than 10,000 elite soldiers and joined hands with Li Shimin on the north bank of Weihe River to jointly attack Chang 'an.
