Su Ao (1912-1975) is a native of Liuyang County, Hunan Province. 1928 joined the guerrillas in southeastern Hubei. 1929 joined China. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he served as the platoon leader of the independent division of Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi, the representative of the 20th regiment of the 7th division of the Red Third Army Corps 16 Army, the deputy battalion commander of the 49th regiment of the 6th Army Corps 17 Division, the chief of staff of the 52nd regiment of the 18 Division, the head of the 53rd regiment and the chief of staff and deputy commander of the 18 Division. Participated in the Long March. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, he served as the battalion commander of the 7th17th Regiment of the 359th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army120th Division, the detachment leader of the fourth independent detachment, the chief of staff of garrison headquarters, Yan 'an, the captain of the fifth detachment of the first detachment going south, and the deputy commander of the Northern Hubei Military Division of the Central Plains Military Region. During the War of Liberation, he served as commander of the Sixth Military Division of the Jinsui Military Region and deputy director of education of Northwest Military and Political University. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he served as Minister of Ordnance Department of the Central Military Commission, Commander of Cavalry in Northwest Military Region, Deputy Commander of Public Security Force in Northwest Military Region and Deputy Commander of Henan Military Region. 1955, he was awarded the rank of major general. Won the first-class August 1st, first-class independence and freedom, first-class liberation medal.
