Historical Evaluation of General Sun Du
"Mounting a horse can strike a thief, dismounting can inspire", which is a portrayal of ancient Confucian generals. Sun Du was born in poverty and was deeply influenced by Confucian traditional culture and family education since childhood. When he was a teenager, he made a great ambition of "joining the army to serve the country" and issued a clank oath of "fighting for the survival of the nation" during the period of national peril.
In his early years, he studied in Wujiang School of Yunnan Army and General Officer Class of Army University. After graduation, he served as a member of the Military Council of Nanjing National Government, and was a famous "Little Zhuge" in Yunnan. The world praised him as "calm and witty, foreseeing the enemy like a god, calculating the best strategy, and becoming a famous man of the times with invincible victory."
