The Yangtze River (English name: The Yangtze River) originates from the "roof of the world"-the southwest side of Gladden Peak in Tanggula Mountain on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The main stream flows through Qinghai, Xizang Autonomous Region, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shanghai 1/provincial administrative region (8 provinces and 2 cities1district), and flows into the East China Sea east of Chongming Island, with a total length of more than 6,300 kilometers, which is second only to the Nile in Africa in the world.

The Yangtze River basin is bounded by Bayan Kara, Xiqiao Mountain, Minshan Mountain, Qinling Mountain, Funiu Mountain, Tongbai Mountain, Dabie Mountain and Huaiyang Mountain in the north, Yunling Mountain, Dali Jizu Mountain, Yunnan Zhongdongshan Mountain, Wumeng Mountain, Miao Ling and Nanling Mountain in the south, Lancang River, Yuanjiang (Red River) and Pearl River Basin in the southeast, and Wuyishan, Twelve Mountains and Huangshan Mountain in the south.

The northern part of the source area of the Yangtze River is bounded by the internal water system of Kunlun Mountain and Qaidam Basin, and the western part is bounded by the internal water system of Kekexili Mountain, Wulan Wula Mountain, Zurkenwula Mountain, Gaqiadirugang Snow Mountain Group and Qiangtang in northern Tibet.

The northern part of the Yangtze River Delta, with flat terrain and dense water networks, is difficult to be separated from the Huaihe River Basin, usually bounded by Jiangdu-Pincha Highway near the Toarey Yang Canal. The southern part of the Yangtze River Delta is bounded by Hangjiahu Plain and the hills on the south side of Qiantang River Basin.
