Zhang Lei was born on 198 1 in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. Primary school attended Jinggangshan Primary School, junior high school attended Mudanjiang No.9 Middle School, and junior high school transferred to Hualin. Zhang Lei left his hometown when he was 2 1 year old, and went from northeast to northwest. Later, he met his wife and stayed in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Zhang Lei once performed in the same bar as Perhart Chalik. He opened a small shop selling lighters during the day and went to the bar to sing at night.
