The College of Food Science and Technology of Huazhong Agricultural University is a research university with great influence and wide reputation in Central China and even the whole country. Its predecessor, Department of Food Science and Technology, was founded in 1984, which was formed by the combination of agricultural products storage and processing, animal nutrition and mechanical engineering of agricultural machinery department.
From 65438 to 0985, food science and animal nutrition began to enroll students. In 2002, food quality and safety was approved by the Ministry of Education and enrollment began. From June 5438 to October 2002 10, the Department of Food Science and Technology was renamed as College of Food Science and Technology, and now there are six departments, including Food Science Department, Food Engineering Department, Food Chemistry Department, Food Nutrition Department, Food Microbiology Department and Food Biotechnology and Safety Department.
