Li was born in February 1968. He was born in Huantai County, Shandong Province. 199 1 graduated from Tsinghua University, and received a doctorate from department of mechanical engineering. First, he worked as a lecturer, associate professor and professor in department of mechanical engineering, Tsinghua University, and then served as the director of the Institute of Man-Machine Environment Engineering and the head of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Tsinghua University University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Li's main research fields are manned spaceflight and ergonomics. Distinguished professor, Changjiang Scholar, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

On the morning of April 29th, 2023, Li, Vice President of Tsinghua University and Director of the Postdoctoral Management Committee of our university, said in his speech at the 13th Tsinghua University Postdoctoral Innovation Forum that 2023 is the first year to fully implement the spirit of the 20th Party Congress.
