During this period, he presided over the revision of China General History Exhibition, which remained unchanged for a long time from 1959, absorbed many new research achievements, enriched a large number of new exhibits and enhanced the scientific and academic nature of the exhibition; In order to improve the academic influence and international status of the Museum of Chinese History, he made great efforts to carry out international academic exchanges and friendly exchanges, and established extensive contacts with foreign museum scholars. As a visionary archaeologist, in order to push China archaeology to the world, he overcame many difficulties and set up the first team of underwater archaeology and aviation archaeology in China, which filled the gap in these fields in China.
