The chief physician of Kunming Third People's Hospital, founded in 1953, is the only large comprehensive hospital in Yunnan Province that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases such as liver disease, AIDS and tuberculosis, and integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and community health services.
