Taikang County belongs to Zhoukou City, Henan Province, located in the east of Henan Province, northwest of Huanghuai Plain and upstream of Huaihe River tributary. It is connected to Zhecheng County and Luyi County in the east, Huaiyang District and Xihua County in the south, Fugou County in the west and Tongxu County, Qixian County and Suixian County in the north, with a total area of 1.759 square kilometers.

In the 23rd year of Qin Shihuang (224 BC), Yangxia County was located in Yingchuan County. In the seventh year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (587), Yang Xia County was changed to Taikang County, which belonged to Chen Zhou. In 2000, Zhoukou area was abolished, and the prefecture-level Zhoukou City was established, and Taikang County was subordinate to Zhoukou City.
