The affiliated middle school of Shanghai Jiaotong University is a key boarding high school under the dual leadership of Shanghai Education Commission and Shanghai Jiaotong University. The school, formerly known as Shanghai No.1 Workers and Peasants Accelerated Middle School, was founded in 1954 and changed to Shanghai Jiao Tong University Preparatory Course in 1958.

1962 was changed to University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Foundation (attached middle school), 1963 was changed to the attached middle school of Jiaotong University, and 1964 was renamed to its current name.
