Baodi District is located in the northern part of Tianjin, the northern part of North China Plain and the southern foot of Yanshan Mountain. It is adjacent to yutian county in Hebei Province and Ninghe District in Tianjin in the east and southeast, and borders Ninghe District and wuqing district in the south and southwest. It is connected with Xianghe County and sanhe city in Langfang City, Hebei Province in the west and northwest. The north and northeast are across the river from Jizhou District of Tianjin and yutian county of Tangshan City of Hebei Province. Between east longitude 1 17 8' and north latitude 1 17 40' and north latitude 39 2 1' ~ 39 50' ... it is 65km long from north to south and 24km wide from east to west, with a total area of15050'.

The north and northeast face Jizhou District of Tianjin and yutian county of Tangshan City of Hebei Province across the river, with a total area of 1.509 square kilometers. In 2020, the registered population of Baodi District was 748,700, an increase of 0.8% over the previous year.
