Yuan Mei (17 16- 1797), Han nationality, was born in Qiantang (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang). Qianlong was a scholar for four years and awarded Jishi Shu the title of imperial academy.

In seven years, Qianlong was transferred to an official position and served as a county magistrate in Lishui, Jiangning, Jiangpu and Shuyang, Jiangsu Province for seven years. He has a good reputation for being an official and diligent, but his official career is not smooth and he has no intention of collecting money. In the 14th year of Qianlong (1749), Yu resigned as a recluse in Suiyuan, Nanjing, and returned to China at the age of 40. He built Suiyuan at the foot of Xiaocang Mountain in Jiangning, recited it and wrote a letter to die, which was called Suiyuan in history. A wide range of poetry disciples, especially female disciples.

Yuan Mei was called "Southern Yuan Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty", and Yuan Mei advocated "the theory of spiritual nature". He was one of the representative poets in Ganjia period, and was called "the three great poets" together with Zhao Yi and Jiang Shiquan. Together with Zhao Yi and Zhang Wentao, it is also known as the Ganjia School of Spirit.

Many works have been handed down, such as Fang Shan Collection, Suiyuan Poetry, Supplement, Ziwuyu, Xu Zi Wuyu and so on. As one of the "Eight Masters of Parallel Prose in Qing Dynasty" and "Three Masters of Jiangyou", his writing style is as famous as that of Ji Yun, a scholar of Zhili University, and he is called "Southern Yuan and Northern Ji".
