Zhang Lan (1April 2, 872 to1February 9, 955), male, Han nationality, was born in Nanchong, Sichuan (now a native of Lianchi Township, Xichong County), and was a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty.
1872 (11th year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty), Zhang Lan was born in Zhonghe Township, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province (now Lianchi Township, Xichong County, Sichuan Province). His father, Zhang Wenzhuo, is a scholar and works as a teacher in the countryside. Zhang Lan studied with his father since childhood. 1887 (13th year of Guangxu), the whole family moved to Zhaoshangou, Minshan Township, Xichong County (now Yongqing Township, Xichong County).
1894 (20th year of Guangxu in Qing dynasty), a scholar, was born again soon. 1902 (twenty-eight years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty) entered Zunjing Academy in Sichuan for further study. 1903 (29th year of Guangxu reign of Qing dynasty) was selected to study in Japan and entered the normal department of Hong Wen public school in Tokyo.
Contribution to education
Advocate "freedom of thought and scholarship" from 65438 to 0925, and become the president of Chengdu University. Despite the opposition of the old school, he vigorously advocated the educational concept of "ideological and academic freedom" in practice. In 1929, he wrote that "we who are engaged in educational and cultural undertakings" should "make a declaration of spiritual independence in order to realize students' freedom of study, research, speech and publication, and complete the democratization of educational spirit". Advocate equality in education. In his works, Zhang Lan sharply criticized the educational inequality caused by the educational system introduced from the West. He pointed out that under this education system, schools run by public funds charge high tuition fees, although there is no grade limit for admission. In fact, schools have become schools for the rich, and children from poor families have been deprived of the right to education. Therefore, he advocated "putting forward the slogan of civilian education and opposing the aristocratic education of capital".
